Delta County Historical Society & Museum
I’ve had numerous people ask if there were any photographs of the old Delta Zoo in the archives of the Delta County Museum…. They are scarce but we have just a few…. The Delta Zoo was named after Clarence Riley and was henceforth known as the Riley Zoo… It was located in Cleland Park just North East of the old Delta High School and covered most of that corner including where the tennis courts are now….The Zoo was opened in 1930 and operated for almost the next 40 years when it abruptly closed in 1969
I may be mistaken but I think the man standing on the left in this photo may be Clarence Riley himself
