  • EGYPTIAN THEATER, DELTA, COLORADO

    From over 100 originally, this theater is one of seven remaining Egyptian theme theaters in the country. Built in 1928, this theater started “Bank Night”, a program which saved thousands of theaters throughout America from failure during the depression years. Complete restoration in the late 1990s guarantees that this theater will be around for a while. 2016

  • FORT UNCOMPAHGRE, DELTA, COLORADO

    Delta’s only living-history museum, Fort Uncompahgre was built in the early 1990s, a reproduction of the original fur traders fort placed in the area by French explorer, Antoine Rubidoux in 1825. Fort Uncompahgre was located on the Old Spanish Trail, and was a popular trading post for the Ute Indians. 2016

  • DELTA COUNTY CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS, DELTA, COLORADO

    Built as the Delta High School in 1921, this historic building now serves both cultural and special educational needs of the community. Total renovation of the 600 seat auditorium in recent years included both technical and acoustic upgrades. The stage once also served as a basketball court, with Delta winning the State Championship there in 1954. 2016

  • CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, DELTA, COLORADO

    Lovingly restored in the early 1990s, the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center (Delta County Bank – 1892) now occupies this historic building at the heart of Delta’s business district. From here, the local history museum is only a block away, or take a historic walking tour of downtown. Ask for details at the Visitor’s Center. 2016

  • CITY HALL, DELTA, COLORADO

    Housing a bank its first 57 years, the Delta City Hall (Delta National Bank – 1910) has occupied this historic building since 1967. It’s historic charm includes a walk-in vault with doors on two sides, as well as past occupants; the co-op telephone central office, doctors, lawyers, retail stores, and even a mortician. 2016

  • BILL HEDDLES RECREATION CENTER, DELTA, COLORADO

    Located in Confluence Park, the Bill Heddles Recreation Center, open since 1993, is unmatched on the Western Slope. It contains an incredible indoor swimming complex, sport facilities, community rooms, outdoor tennis courts and athletic fields. Special community events, including craft, home and garden shows, and other gala events, are also held here. 2016

  • OPERA HOUSE MURAL, DELTA, COLORADO

    Representative of the City of Murals, this fine mural, painted by artist, Richard Doherty in 1999, depicts Delta’s 1896 Anna-Dora Opera House located in the Simpson-Sanders building on this corner of Main Street. When the two-story building burned to the ground in 1939, the current building replaced it, though without an opera house. 2016

  • CONFLUENCE PARK, DELTA, COLORADO

    Created in 1990 as the nucleus for Delta’s All American City achievement, this park has been the focal point for numerous Pow Wow events and other entertainment venues. The park includes an events arbor, pictured here, hiking trails, a picnic pavilion, swimming and fishing, and a living-history museum. 2016

  • PUBLIC LIBRARY, DELTA, COLORADO

    Delta’s public library, built in 1911, is one of over 1,600 libraries built between 1883 and 1929 in the United States with supporting grants by philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie. Serving an ever-growing community, additions were added in 1984 and 2005. The latest in library technology complements the usual library materials. 2016

  • DELTA COUNTY MUSEUM, DELTA, COLORADO

    Delta’s local history museum (Delta Fire Station – 1954) features a number of world-class exhibits and rare artifacts, 10 historic bells (a must-ring for visitors), locally discovered dinosaur bones, a global butterfly collection, many historic artifacts, a family history archive, a gift shop featuring area and western history books, and lots more. 2016
